We met in the late summer, our introduction the electric dance of two spinning storms. The final sip of a drink preceded the first words of our merging, and closed the gap between two tables. This harmonious dance intricately progressed, expanding the depths we knew ourselves and one another with each passing breath. Significant simplicities at the start of it all foreshadowed the day of our union: bouquets dried and photographs, tangible memories and links to the past. Flavors of orange and bourbon, reminiscent of late nights sipping old-fashioneds, conversing on how real this was, playing coy to what it meant. Vinyls of records that coaxed our paths into coalescence sung the soundtrack to our story, crackling in sync with the gently breathing fire. We had gotten lost many times before our paths finally crossed. We got lost together to honor our unity, in a forest in the mountains on a cool evening in late spring. The only guests at the ceremony were trees and fallen leaves, dressed in thin strands of yellow light from the quietly setting sun.
This love is as effortless as breathing. It is imperfectly human, and beautifully vulnerable in all of its surprises. It is unconventional and it is honest. It is wild.
Sindy + Dana
On the tenth day of the fifth month of 2020, we exchanged vows in the woods. We escaped to the mountains and transformed an old farmhouse into our temporary home. Days later, we were joined by three dear friends in the community garden where we had our first date. Encouraged by their love and the blooms of spring, we legalized our marriage.
These photos tell the story of our elopement weekend as well as our marriage ceremony. Photos were taken with various digital and film cameras by the two of us (but mostly by Sindy).
